What a Racket

So we're in New York right now buying supplies for the new semester. What you see above is $175 of hard earned dough. I guess I should say that this little gem, more accurately the knowledge therein, will make me millions. That is somewhat comforting given what it cost me. Why couldn't this be online and half the price.

A Little Something for You Bill & Hill Fans Out There

From the Wall Street Journal:

Vast Left-Wing ConspiracyJanuary 25, 2008; Page A14

The Democratic epiphany about the political tactics of Bill and Hillary Clinton continues, with scales falling from eyes on a daily basis. "I think it's not Presidential," said former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, about Mr. Clinton's steady barrage against Barack Obama. "It's not in keeping with the image of a former President, and I'm frankly surprised that he is taking this approach." Mr. Daschle supports Mr. Obama, but how he could be surprised is another matter.
"This is beneath the dignity of a former President. He is not helping anyone, and certainly not helping the Democratic Party," added Vermont Senator Pat Leahy. On the point of "helping" the party, Mr. Leahy seems to have forgotten that the Clinton Presidency was an era of more or less persistent Democratic losses -- except for the Clintons.
Then there's former South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Dick Harpootlian, who once backed Bill Clinton but this week called his political attacks "reprehensible" and described one of Mrs. Clinton's TV ads about Mr. Obama as "a lie." As Mrs. Clinton likes to say, she's had "16 years" of experience in dealing with this "Republican attack machine."

And these two are supposed to represent change in Washington with rabid attacks. We should also mention that Hill came out swinging. She drew first blood and has continued to be a little nasty in this campaign. This is the experience she has; but I don't think so highly of her ability to be presidential.

This is why I love New York

So I attended a networking event in Manhattan at the Federal Reserve Bank. It was a good event with some very progressive people in honor of MLK. I went to the Fulton Street 2/3 subway stop to get back to the bus back to Jersey and I witnessed a pretty good musical duo playing 70's and 80's classics. A bass, a sax and a drum machine kicked out some nice music. A couple of folks in the video really dug the underground scene. It's a short clip, but this is New York.

Peace

just heavenly

This is one reason why I love Westin hotels--the Heavenly Bath. I'm testing the video upload of content to my blog. Good thing it's a test, because how interesting can an empty shower really be? Well, it is kind of cool, right?

a bird's eye view

I'm on a plane headed back home from my trip to dallas for one of my clients. Now that the phone and blackberry are off, I'm reflecting on how blessed I was to be able to visit with family in the area. Uncles Bo and Bubee came to my hotel the other night and had a drink with me (we all had soda, well mine was corona flavor) and last night Laquesha picked me up and we all went to dinner in Arlington. Thank God it was a good visit--good time with the family and the work thing was productive. I even have some fish for Magic! The only problem with this trip is that I miss my wife. I can't wait to get home to see her.

But each overnight trip gets up closer to free flights, free nights and platinum status.

Peace and love.

No Disciplinary Action? Thanks Golf Channel!

So did you hear the one about the golf correspondent who proposed lynching Tiger Tiger Woods Y'all? Too bad it's not a joke. Here's the way it went down:

During their usual post-round banter as they wrapped up Day 2 at the Plantation Course at Kapalua, Tilghman and cohort Nick Faldo discussed young players who could possibly challenge Tiger. Faldo, ever the joker, said perhaps the youngsters should "gang up (on Tiger) for a while." The pair laughed a bit before Tilghman responded by saying, "Lynch him in a back alley." The pair chuckled awkwardly before moving on.

That's just nasty!

Complaints can be sent to:

Brian Roberts, CEO

Ms. Tilghman will not be disciplined by The Golf Channel--the latest racist identifying herself in the air.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

A lot of people seem to like this Hillary character. I'm not one of them. For the record, I have no problem with having a woman lead America from the Oval Office. Some might argue that she's actually done it before--the not likely the first one to wear the pants in the White House. No, my problem is with Hillary. Actually, I have little patience for Democrats who voted for military action in Iraq when they probably didn't believe it, but did what they figured they had to do to keep their jobs. Well, it is not the job of a member of the Senate to vote the way they think they should vote based upon a poll or prevailing national sentiment, if they actually think otherwise. I have even less patience for a Democrat that would try to cut funding for the war with men and women in the war zone. There are other weapons to be used in order to fight a President on a war they no longer support.

Let me say that while the war was probably going to happen at some time down the line, I don't think it was fought in the right way. No less than 300,000 troops should have been deployed at once in order to bring about security and make sure Syria and Iran didn't provide support. We didn't do it that way--in favor of shock and awe followed by a lighting quick path to Baghdad. Big mistake.

At any rate, I do not think a Democrat can win this race. There are three strong candidates in the Donkey Zone--'Bama, Edwards and Hil'. I think that the only one with a snowball's chance is Edwards. However, he is as weak as his former running mate--Senator Turkey Neck. A former Yalie with a lower GPA than the current occupant of the White House. For that reason, I think it is important for Black people to make a statement about us and politics and vote for the Negro. I don't think I understand why Black people don't vote for 'bama. If you're a Dem, and your voting in the next election, do you really think Hil' is a better choice? She's not a life long public servant. She's got only a few years on 'bama. He's an intellectual, a constitutional law professor (highest law of the land) and he's been a public servant for several years prior to his Senate run. He's got experience, he's qualified--he's way out to the left, but he's qualified. I might even want to become a Dem just to vote for him in the primary. If this were 1968, it would be a no brainer that 'bama is our choice. Just because Hil has seen the inside of a Baptist church doesn't mean she's ready for prime time. Her voting record and quotes on the war and Iran have made it clear to me that she should be seeking re-election as the junior Senator from New York. By the way, what has she done there that's so good?

On the elephant side of things, I have been hearing a lot about this Ron Paul fellow. Being a conservative, I'm going to check him out. The GOP has a pretty weak field this year. Still, I think Guiliani could beat Hil. However, that is a nightmare scenario. Rudy was a pretty insensitive mayor, and I think he will be a fairly bad President.

All in all, I'm pretty dissapointed with the options thus far. However, I suggest that we all examine the candidates, seek God's wisdom and get out and vote. Also, I ask that no one take it personally that I disagree with your position. I'm a conservative Black Man. I disagree with a lot of people. It's OK. That's why God put brains into each of our heads--so we could think for ourselves.
Peace and Love.

the holidays are over

So the tree has come down. After about a month of holiday decorations, it is time to put the Xmas stuff away. I say Xmas, because most of what we put up has nothing at all to do with the religious holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Kitty has had a lot of experience separating the secular and religious holidays that are generally thought to be one and the same by the masses. Apparently, someone took offense to the placement of a Christmas tree as if it had some religious significance--it surely does not.

Happy New Year to all! Do your best to make it good for you and yours.

studying real estate

This was how I spent most of November. That seems so long ago now as the beginning of a new semester draws near. Unfortunately, I am waiting on one more grade from a professor. Once I receive that, I can go back to paying to torture myself. Yet education is a good thing! I can't wait.
